Virtual Workshop hosted on Zoom
November 21, 2026
12p-2p (CDT)
This workshop provides a brief overview of 3 major interpreting process models including such foundational frameworks as Gile’s Effort Model, Colonomos’ Integrated Model of Interpreting, and Cokely’s Sociolinguistic Model. Exploring these models allows interpreters to better understand what they do which leads to better cognitive load management and reflective practice.
Designed for working interpreters, students, and mentors, this workshop connects theoretical foundations to reflective practice and provides practical tools that support both day-to-day performance and long-term professional growth.
The Participant will be able to:
Explain the purpose of interpreting models
Articulate three differences between the presented models
Identify ways that process models can be used for cognitive load management and reflective practice
